Roadmap

CDT continues to solidify the technology and policy elements of the Digital ID Framework by:

  • Implementing the California Identity Gateway:
    • Continue to improve access to affordable transit
      • In partnership with Cal-ITP, the CDT will continue to support implementation of the existing transit discount system to new transit agencies across California.
    • Pursue additional state agency partners
      • The CDT continues to engage with new state agencies to identify opportunities to improve verification processes for a wide array of state services and benefits.
    • Onboard new IDPs and eligibility providers
      • The CDT’s is identifying new integrations that can provide information about Californians’ income and other common eligibility criteria.
  • Developing Statewide Policy:
    • Finalize the Digital ID framework
      • The CDT is working to finalize the Digital ID framework and its associated policies, and publish additional guidance for state agencies.
    • Engage with additional policy authorities
      • To enact the policies associated with the Digital ID Framework the CDT is collaborating with other statewide authorities such as the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA).
  • Developing Statewide Digital Credentials:
    • Establish a style guide and minimum standards
      • The CDT is working to develop guidance for state agencies on the issuance and use of digital credentials that will standardize and improve the user experience for digital state-issued passes, certificates, and benefits.
    • Developing tools to make digital credential issuance easier
      • CDT is developing tools that state agencies can use to streamline and automate elements of credential issuance to speed uptake.
